Received 4 text messages in a row from 226-22, claiming that I have signed up for Account Alerts and a new Visa debit card with NetSpend.com. I don't know why, since I didn't even know about NetSpend until these messages. It's possible I suppose that someone else signed up for a card and randomly gave them a number that happened to be mine.

I too received 4 texts from this number about anytime alerts and did some searching to find out that it was from a company called Netspend. They sell pre-paid debit cards and offer free anytime alerts to let you know your balance and when transactions happen. Only problem - I don't have a prepaid debit card! When I called them to complain and try to find out why I was getting the texts, they asked for my social security number - I refused to give it to them. I gave them my name and they said "okay, the texts will stop now." I asked, "You don't need my cell phone number?!" They said "no." I am still receiving texts...

Man, how to waste time.................. I have gotten 38, yes 38 in 2 days

I'm receiving texts from 22622 also, but my debit card account isn't affected in any way, its just annoying. Anyone figure out how do deal with it yet?

Checked with NetSpend.com and verified they had no account under my name; they said to text STOP to 22622, which I did, and I stopped getting the messages.

received messages from the same number as all of you.... got a little sketched out when they continued and decided to google it.... found myself on this site and now knowing I'm not the only am a little relieved haha. Havent texted STOP or anything to the number, i was just hoping that if I ignored it it would stop. I didnt want to give them a reason to continue sending.

These texts began right after we added a line to my ATT wireless account and ordered an iphone. And the texts are directed to the name on the new account. This is the only possible connection because it would be the only way for anyone to associate the name with my phone number. I just texted back stop so I don't know if the texts will stop yet..

I received 2.one states that $663.61 available after $663.00 direct deposit load from US Treasury303 and the other stated almost the same, but the dollar amounts are different and this time it refers to the Comm of PA SSP. What the heck???

same thing here, I texted back STOP and got this message: "This message confirms that you have discontinued this service. Questions contack 1-86-netspend". Hope that those messages would really stop as it gets annoying. This happened with my new line on my iPhone via T-Mobile. Still wondering if there will be an extra charge for that message on my bill though ... even after I have unlimited messages in my plan.

Have received several text messages from this number saying that I have this amount of money after this transaction. I do have a netspend card, however it is not even activated. What bothers me is that a transaction it showed was actually somewhere that I do live by and I do shop at. I texted stop and got the message saying that it was confirming that I have discontinued this service. and for questions to contact 1-86-netspend.

I keep getting messages stuff about money like you have 1,923.03 dollars left in you account.I replied stop and it said you have disconnected this service.So thanks.

I have received 2 such texts saying that i have $x left after a $y amount spent at ABC Limited with card ending 1234. This happened after I signed up for Alerts on my new Credit card which did not correlate to the info supplied. Just texted STOP and I got the same NetSpend Anytim Alerts message about discontinuing the service as noted by someone above.

I received a text from 22622 saying that I have $588 left in the account after $211 was withdrawn for payiment to comcast plus.com by the card ending in #5330. I don't have any such card and no such thing as Comcast plus exists! I called my bank and they've advised me that this is a scam to retreive your personal information. You get the text, you call to complain or to try and figure out what this is all about, they ask for your personal info and those people who give it out may be later scamed. You have to be on guard all the time. If you know that you don't have any such account, don't even think of giving your information out. These people will use anything you give them to use for their own fraudulent purposes. That's what the bank told me and also told me that there were already seve

I keep on getting texts from this number saying deposit available from US TREASURY, and random amounts. Also, txts where it says your current available amount after withdrawal is... I texted stop, got a message saying I have discontinued service and to call 18663877363. Hope it stops now.
