Enter the short code or phone number of the offending text message to find out more about the sender.
Never asked for these. Not sure why they came in the first place but sending STOP unsubscribed it.
I received two texts from this number, one stating a member number and pin and the other telling me that I'll be receiving texts twice a week. I've never signed up for such a service nor do I shop at these stores. I sent stop to unsubscribe, hopefully that will resolve problem.
I (supposedly) have text messaging blocked on my account, and I got two texts back to back from this number today. Replied with STOP and got the unsubscribe confirmation. Not sure how they got through, but it pisses me off that these spammers are sucking away my prepaid balance.
They are text messages from Sears.....how they got my number is beyond me. I also reported them to the FCC, for violation of the Do Not Call List.
Texting STOP did work...
Received the following messages: Welcome to Sears/Kmart Shop Your Way Rewards Text Alrts. If you dont want texts, reply STOP to quit. Up to 2 msgs/wk Msg&Data rates my apply Txt HELP 4info | Go cardless with Shop Your Way Rewards Sears & Kmart! Here's your Member Number: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx & your PIN: xxxxxxxx. Txt HELP 4info.
STOP seemed to work, at least by the confirmation: You are now unsubscrived from SYWR, sorry to see you go. For more info, visit http://sears.ly/595959. Msg&Data rates may apply.
I am on the Do-Not-Call registry. I did NOT ask for any promotional info in any form from Sears or Kmart and don't have cards with them.
Filed a complaint with FCC at: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/donotcall/#howtocomplain
got the same thing on mine
i never asked for this and texting stop didnt work for me
Got the same texts as Anon above a few minutes ago. Replying STOP got the same response. Complaints filed.
I do not know how they got my number, it freaks me out a bit… Send a complaint, it takes 5 seconds to do it. @ https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?
Also, register your number for the no call list, i thought this was standard for cell phones @ https://www.donotcall.gov/
I believe it has worked. After sending Stop it gave me a goodbye message that included http://sears.ly/595959 which then sent me to http://app.searsmobile.com/lp/277 and supplied the phone number 800-991-8708 among other items.
I'm getting unsolicited text messages from this number advertising Sears
Solicitation sent twice. Responding "Stop" did not work.
Somethings wrong with my prepaid, so I cannot text. So I can't reply with STOP, and called the toll free number instead. It turns out someone entered my phone with their account. The Customer Service Rep cleaned my number off their records (I hope).
This is sad commentary on what was once two great brands, Sears and K-Mart, that they are now so desperate for business that they are sending out spam text messages. Used the STOP reply option....we'll see if it works.
I also received the same Unsolicited texts. I understand it is an $11,000 fine per text. They must be very desperate. Stop did work.
There is no fine for these messages. These "short code" text messages are authorized by AT&T. AT&T will not block them nor treat them as spam. It does not good to report this to do not call lists.
There is nothing we can do at this time to stop this. Maybe an ambitious state District Attorney will take action someday.
We need an alternative to text messages, something that the phone company doesn't own.
I wonder if Google or Apple will help ...
As far as I know this has stopped it. I never asked for this and am seriously considering whether I'll ever shop at Sears or Kmart again.
I called the 800-991-8708 supplied above. Some kind of Sears rewards program. Service rep was very cordial - asked me for the cell number the text was sent to, matched it up to an account (probably a sears charge account?) and told me the opt out was activated.
Got messages from them without requesting them. After I opted out they gave me a url for info. http://sears.ly/595959. I thought I would post it for others info.
