Number texted me twice in a row asking me to get "hot hot news" updates from "the website", which was not provided. This was very annoying and wasted two of my texts. Some of us don't have unlimited text plans!

Unsolicited text received, telling me to enter a password into an unnamed website, and said something about hot hot news for around $10 a month

So I did some research, and their website is http://www.hot-hot-news.com/.
You can call at 1-888-734-2560, and request your number removed from their database.
Something seems shady here, but I can't put my finger on it.

Got three text in a row, starting at 2:34am... It said type password, type into address and receive answers.

This number texted me with a number and called it a "password" that I would need to enter in order to get "hot, hot news". I have never seen this number before, nor have do I share my mobile number with websites or corporations.

I got two text from this number, but don't know what it is as I signed up nothing to my phone.

Same story here. I have received a message from 86234 in a format XXXX = password. Called my cell service provider they said that these guys signed me up somehow to their service. Best part about it - it was "trial subscription" and they would start charging me on my cell phone bill after trial period would end.
This is outrageous.

Rec'd unsolicited text from 86234 at 10:09 a.m. today, June 23, 2010.

Text states "the longest road in the U.S. is U.S. Route 20 which spans 3365 miles. Its eastern terminus is in Boston, Mass. and its western terminus is in newport, Oregon."

I texted the word "stop" to 86234 and I received the following text message back from 86234: " You have successfully unsubscribed and will no longer receive msgs or charges from Hot-Hot-News.com Info Alerts"

The message was signed suport@hot-hot-news.com or 1-888-734-2560.

I had not knowingly subscribed to this "service."

Scam.

I think all these short code things should be banned. Alot of people are being charged for thisand they have no idea until their bill arrives. You see alot of this on TV and those phone sex commercials. Could get someone into alot of trouble.

I received four text messages over a two day period, so far. The message was that I had lost 'Premium Text' services for my cell phone and the only way to get them back was to contact my service provider. I also smell something fishy going on but can not figure it out yet. My cell texting is, and has been, working normally. For now I intend to do nothing: both to see if they continue with the messages and two, if anyone here has any suggestions.

Could they be waiting for a response from me to see if I am a 'live one'? I can't see how by contacting my service provider to have this 'Premium Texting' returned could benefit anyone, unless they have a way to monitor my calls and get some private info from my conversation with my service provider.

I just discovered a charge on my cell phone bill for $9.99 from Hot-Hot-News, short code 86234! I have no recollection of ever seeing or signing up for this subscription from my cell phone. Outrageous! I did not know someone could charge your phone for a service you did not agree to. My bill noted that I could text "STOP" to the short code to stop the subscription which I immediately did. I then received a response text message that I successfully unsubscribed from Hot-Hot-News.com. Ignorance is bliss but costs too much!

Found charge on phone bill and contacted Verizon. They gave me the short code that had originated the charge. I got the "service" stopped, but how do I Get the money that I now have to pay Verizon?

I also received multiple texts from this number. I think it has something to do with movies.com because my message says search by movie title, city name and or exact zip code of movie theater to receive local listings in your area instantly on your phone. I had been looking up movies on my phone and feel as though I was scammed by this service. I never agreed to sign up and now I have been charged $9.99 by Verizon for garbage.

Texted me asking me to type them my password. Dunno for what. So, the service was 9.99 and if I get charged for this I will be so angry. I never even put my phone number into anything so I don't know how they got my number.

Recieved $9.99 charge from Verizon as Premium Messaging showing SMS 86234 Hot-Hot-News.com as description. Did not subscribe to this service. I contacted Verizon and received a courtesy credit and had a free block put on cell phone to prevent this from happening again. Was advised by Verizon the 86234 code charges each month on the 9th. I sent UNSUBSCRIBE to 86234 from cell phone and received an immediate response stating I have successfully unsubscribed from this service, etc.
